      Ballet

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. Ballet provides a strong, solid technical base for all other dance forms.

      Pointe

Ballet performed using hard-toed and stiff-shanked shoes. It is offered to those students who have mastered the knowledge and technique of ballet and have the required strength to dance en pointe. Instructor approval needed.

      Tap

A style of American percussive dance using precise rhythmic patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping. Tap helps students develop rhythm, coordination and timing as well as allowing them to make music with their feet.

      Lyrical

This style of dance combines ballet and jazz techniques. Here, you can dance to music where the lyrics inspires expression and story-telling.

      Contemporary

This style, while very similar to lyrical, embodies ballet, lyrical, jazz, and modern techniques in order to express a story. Contemporary dance is very popular throughout the dance world due to the beauty it presents and the strength it takes to perform. If you want a challenge while dancing your heart out, this class is for you!

      Modern

A style of theatrical dancing which is not as strict as classical ballet. Dancers are able to develop body awareness and alignment while moving “outside the box”.

      Hip Hop

A style of dance which evolved out of street dancing styles and is showcased in most music videos. This is an athletic, bouncy and funky type of dance, but above all, it is fun.

      Boys Hip Hop/Tap

Boys unite! This class is geared towards strength and coordination. Gymnastic warm up includes sit-ups and pushups. Boys learn some snazzy footwork along the way!

      Ballet/Tap (4-6 Year Olds)

All the discipline of the ballet portion, with the rhythm and noise of tap! Basic tap moves are put together with upbeat music to teach the dancers to move in time!

      Ballet/Hip Hop

The second half of class is focused on moving to songs of today. Isolations and fun movements keep the dancers upbeat and the steps funky!

      Musical Theater

A jazz style dance with elements of Broadway and theatric performance. Students should be ready to act, lip sync, and dance while most importantly having fun during this class.

      Jazz

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.

      Ballet/Tumble

(2 1/2 - 3 1/2 Years Old) On your mark, get, set -- smile! Ms. Barbara works her nursery rhythms and songs right into the ballet portion of her class and teaching them basic ballet steps without them even knowing it. The second half of class is tumbling, she works on coordinating strength moves and balances such as front tuck rolls and back tuck rolls. A great way to warm up, dancers lift and stretch and get into the swing of the class. Instruments bring rhythm to the hour-long class. The dancers learn to sing, dance and move, move, move! (4-6 Years Old) In this class you will see the growth as the children find themselves at the ballet barre doing an entire warm up. They will learn to go across the floor and then move into center to learn a small combination. Tumbling focuses on control and learning the cartwheel and Backbend!

      Gymnastics/Acrobatics

(Beginner) Students at this level will learn basic balance skills and strengthening exercises to prepare them for tricks such as summersaults, cartwheels, and handstands. (Intermediate) Students at this level are really looking to move ahead to bigger and faster tricks. Class will have floor warm-ups and proceed down the mats with Intermediate tricks such as running round-offs through front and back walkovers. (Advanced) Students at the advanced level are now using tricks in combination as they move across the mat. Class warm-up is a little more intense to instill the safety of the students at all times. Advanced tricks would include: back and front tumbling such as back handsprings, tucks, layouts, aerials. Discipline is a must at this level.
