Tom O'Shaughnessy
Teacher

Tom began tap dancing at the age of 4 and went on to compete for the Pure Energy Dance Team.  He performed and competed in groups, solos and duos.  Playing the drums helped develop his interest in rhythm and timing which he applies to his tap dancing.  Tom began assisting in class at the age of fifteen where he was able to develop his teaching techniques and style.  He now teaches tap at the Woodbridge School of Dance working with the Pure Energy Dancers.  Always interested in developing as a dancer, Tom takes classes at the Broadway Dance Center and attends workshops throughout the year.  Two years ago, he began attending class at New Jersey Tap Ensemble where he met Deborah Mitchell.  He was honored to be invited to join her First Company and has had the privilege to work with some of her most accomplished members.  He attended Tap City this summer and was accepted as an intern for New Jersey Tap Fest working with Hillary-Marie.  Tom has taken classes with Karen Calloway Williams, Jason Samuel Smith, Brill Barret to name a few.  He continues to bring new and exciting ideas to class.
